Default Compund curve

Hey guys I am working on a project where I need fit the 26g sheet metal to this frame. It was orgignally stretched formed on a buck, but the people that had originally built the buck, built it improper and the buck broke in the middle of stretching. Not to mention the buck was the wrong shape. It is a compound curve and it is about a 1" rise from the front flange to the first rib. For some reason the panel is fighting me and I am at a loss right now. I have been using the shrinker stretch and the english wheel to get where I am at now.

looking for some advice on how you would go from here.

cheers
Ryan

I would think you could wheel that in an alternating pattern to provide more shape toward the center, staying away from the end where you don't need any stretch...

I think if it were not clamped down on the rhs it would be loose on each end and tight in the middle.
I think I would move your yellow and red tracking lines over to straddle the middle of the panel.

KJC I have had it clamped on the front and the rear and still running into the same problem where I can get it tight in the back and pretty tight in the front (still needs some shrinking) but over the the center (red marks) between the side to side ribs (green lines) it is loose. Correct me if I am wrong but I feel like that area needs to be shrunk in the center of the red marks in order for them to fit tight agains the stringers that run from front to back. Again I could be wrong this is why I am asking for help

PS if there is anyone in Washington that may be able to help please PM me for details.

Default Compound curve

Say flavour, I am not an expert and I have never posted to this forum before so I appologize for being stupid or arrogant. I am learning and studying yet have no time to work at it. But I got a tip from Fay Butler awhile back that I will never forget. If I got his point right, he said where ever it is touching that's where it needs to be stretched...until it is all touching. So the way i see it if you want to bring an area down that maybe doesn't need to come down because the shape is good just not in the right place, then stretch or bring up the parts where it is touching and the parts that are up will be down. I have also seen that theory put to use in John Glover's video on making a model 'A' fender. Again you might want to take my comments with a grain of salt, because I can't talk from experience. Ryan, that's a very interesting project you're working on.

What is it, if you don't mind my asking.
