I made a couple more SS100 rad shells with the grill inserts

The shell on the right is an original SS100 shell.

here's one sitting on a radiator...

This is inside with the correct exra pieces soldered on.

David, Even though you have made a number of the shells that still is some beautiful work. You have every right to be proud, very nice, Dan

Thanks Dan. I have made many of these shells but This is the first time I have been able to make fully finished shells with all the parts made and soldered in place, I thought it might be of interest to people who read the rest of the thread where I show how I make the parts to see the finished product.

The guy who used to make the inserts and other soldered on parts has now retired and I am doing these directly for the customers now. These two are going to Ireland and I am in the middle of making one which is going to Australia.

It is a hell of a lot more work to make the insert than I thought it would be!

Hi David,

What sort of tool do you use to file your welds on the inside of the top of the radiator where it is very concave? And to you metal finish the welds purely by hand?

I have your dvd and learned a lot from it.

Thank you.

Scott

Thanks Ian

Hi Scott, I use a belt sander. I metal finish everything I make in the way I show on the DVD, it is in my opinion the only way to get a true metal finish to the standard needed to chrome plate a part so that little other prep is needed before paint.

Thank you Gots! I have now started making these in less pieces. I may post some photos but I don't know since people are probably bored with them.

I for one would like to see how you have refined how you make these rad shells David as it could give us all insight as to how to make things out of fewer peices .
Cheers Chris
