Default Power hammer operator at Moals

Hi everyone, my name is Troy and I run the power hammer at Moals in Oakland, CA.

I’ve been meaning to join for awhile now, there always seems to be a photo or few that sound interesting but I can’t seem to see without being registered. So, here we go and hopefully at the same time get to meet anyone else local, learn a bit or maybe even help some out.

I’ve been in the hot rod industry since the early 2000’s. Working at such shops as Barry White’s, California street rods, Hollywood Hotrods and transitioned to motorbikes doing the tanks, and other various tin work at Falcon motorcycles in LA before moving to the Bay Area in 2012. I’ve been at Moals now for close to 7 years shaping a fair amount of panels running the Pettingell Steve acquired from Quin Epperly. As well as having the opportunity to work on a number of vintage and notable race car restoration projects.

Welcome to the forum Troy. Sounds like you could teach some of us a few things.

Dwmh, thanks.
I still have a lot to learn but I enjoy sharing anything I’ve picked up along the way.

Hi Troy. Welcome. Hopefully you'll share some of what's going on there at Moals. Is Jimmy still there BTW?

Hi Steve and Chris. Thanks for welcoming.
I always thought highly of Moals while in SoCal and always thought if I ended up in the Bay Area it would be a great shop to be at. We do get some very nice projects and I’ve been very fortunate here so far with the metal work, hope to share some of our projects from time to time and yes Jimmy is still around too.
