Thanks guys, it was way more than I anticipated prior to leaving Rock Hill. They had an itinerary of sorts, but I had not really paid much attention to it.
Steve and Kerry, if this is too far out of the metal shaping 'arena' me know, and I will back it down, but I would like to share some history that I was exposed to during this trip. I have been aware of these situations, but never took the time to visit them when either I worked or raced in Daytona, there never seemed to be enough time. I was involved in seven autograph sessions, but four in particular were in historical venues that I had never set foot in personally. This was at the 'brick' ceremony that was held at the gas station that Bill France Sr. owned and worked at when he started to organize NASCAR. 8f2c3f65a33a7d3246ddafc969933b7a.jpg e0c5860dba4ae1370e52d9194df3dc9b.jpg The award ceremony was noticeably more casual at this location. This lady escorted us to the stage one at a time down that red carpet in the background. daytona 019.jpg This was at the Streamline Hotel where Bill France Sr. met with a group of gentlemen and wrote up the papers to begin NASCAR. I was actually able to sit at one of those tables on the rooftop . rs=h_650,cg_true2.jpg This is at a restaurant that some of the early NASCAR drivers frequented when competing at the original race on the beach, that is located between the third and forth turns of that track. Clearly this is an internet photo. I did not have a camera with me at all times. I can vouch for the tastiness of their rack of ribs. (Not quite as good as Waffle house country ham and grits, but sufficient at the moment). See track.jpg at bottom of this post for the 'restaurant' pic. trackturn.jpg They sent this home with me as well. Ray Fox was the first NASCAR owner to use the #3. WCMisc 002.jpg daytona 014.jpg This was at the Living Legends museum on Thursday morning where I was invited to the 'Coffee with the Characters' event where 150-200 folks wander in to listen to 'old guys' spin tales and spread B.S. Not sure why I was invited here! 1.jpg I screwed something up here. There is a picture titled 'track.jpg' that is shown below and that is the location of the North Turn Restaurant.

They were already in Florida visiting relatives near Orlando, and I had extra tickets to the event. I consider them both special folks, so I guess that's a 'yes'. There were more than 650 people attending the banquet, so I was happy to have some company, and take a good look at those two ladies, they sure made me look good. I was most appreciative of them taking the time to drive to Daytona just for the banquet.
