The wings unfortunately I don't have any progress pics showing how they were built, I was extremely under the gun to have them on for a deadline.

They were made from .030 aluminum, and each rib was individually formed. I started by shearing 6inch wide by 8 ft long strips in the pullmax. I then tipped a 1 inch flange on the beadroller on each side effectively making a C-Channel.

I made a plastic die for the pullmax that had the 6 inch radius for the shape and ran all the straight pieces through. For the feather tips I made a paper patterns and marked the ends and tipped them by hand with a pair of modified pliers. After that I tipped over a 1/2 flange for a mounting surface. So each piece has 1/2 flat mount flange, 1/2 inch raised, and the radius.

To wrap them around the front, I drew a template that had the 14 inch radius that the box has, shrunk the c- channel to fit that and then put the 6 inch radius in on the pullmax. After the were all shapped up I riveted them together and fit them to the box.

Clear as mud?

Default Thanks Mike

Yup, clear as mud. Actually that was a great explaination and made it sound pretty simple.

Did you find that when you brought them around the 14" radius that the curve you put in with the Pullmax started to flatten out?

Actually I expected that to happen, but it wasn't much, I just tuned them up a little to fit the box before tipping the mounting flange.

I think because the material was so thin it didn't move much...

I spent a bit of time trying to come up with different ways of making it, with the tooling that I have. It turned out faster than I expected, not too sure if that was skill or luck! Lmao!

I can only upload a couple pics at a time, so this might take a while....

The delivery of materials from Industrial Metal Supply...

Some bucks that I made for shaping the radiuses. Some were a waste of time as I only ended up using the ones for the roof corner radiuses. The big ones for the sides just ended up under the way. Lol

For the inner structure the customer spec'ed out 1x2 light gauge rectangular tubing. Some I farmed out to have the radius rolled out. Not having a tubing bender that could handle the job, and time crunch forced that.

This is the frame for the box that was supplied to me by the customer, he had previously fit it to the frame of the truck.

I will have to look into other ways of posting pics as my phone won't let me upload pics of the cab right now.

My customer had an engineer "blueprint" this and it definitely was a little on the overkill side lol! Best part was when he seriously asked me if I thought it needed more tubing for reinforcement!

Platform that I put together to be able to "jig" up all the components. I ended up making it large enough to assemble whole sections at one time.

Roof radiuses after removal from the jig.

Passenger side display door.... I did mention this is a mobile art display gallery..... right?

Structure coming together. Looks worse than it really was, remember it is thin tubing!
