The Rambler should be fun. We had a convertible version when I was a teenager. Great fun little car. Ugly enough to be cute and the girls loved it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Great work on this! It really seems to flow well together. Maybe I missed it, but what are the airbags? Brand, model if you have it.

Thanks

Thank you. I don’t recall 100% which bags I ended up using. The rears were Firestone’s, tapered sleeve bags. I’m pretty sure they were the F9000 bags.

Fronts I don’t recall brand or model I know for sure Firestone or GoodYear (they came with the universal Mustang II suspension I started with) They are double convoluted bags.

Thank you very much. When able, I like the finished project to not look "busy" or cluttered. Sometimes less is more. This Mercury is planned to be just a driver, so I'm not going too crazy here since most of the chassis and underside will never be seen. However, I like the projects to look nice while building them as people visit the shop and see them "in progress" even if it's all covered up later. If you have to do a task, it doesn't always take a huge amount of extra time to do it right or nice......sometimes it takes WAY more time though!ha You have to decide which battles you pick and where you'd rather spend the labor / $$. Most times, budgets determine what's able to be accomplished. As a side note, I don't have my own projects: 1. Because I can't afford to build my own and 2. I like my hobbies to be different than my work.

Yeah it's a unique car, we have big plans for it. I've done some pre design work with the customer and we have some plans that should really make it all worth the time and effort!

Today I had to roll the Mercury off the rack and outside to get it to our storage (I had to move a couple days ahead of my plan as we were / are supposed to get 6-10" of snow, and I didn't want to have to move all these projects around outside in the wet sloppy snow.

I think eventually we'll have to get a nicer looking set of wheels!ha

Notice the Rambler waiting patiently in the background to come into the shop so I can start on it!

Be a shame to replace those Wheels!
I just had a look at all the W's on the sign above your head, pretty cool stuff there.

Ha, it’s amazing how handy those cut out wheels are at times. Cut it to a diameter you are using for a tire and you can mock suspension up at it and it’s much easier to work around than an actual wheel and tire....and very inexpensive.

Thanks for the compliment on our web site. I’m pretty lax at updating our website unfortunately, but I post more “day to day” stuff on our Facebook page

Sure no problem.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated the site, but I still feel there’s a bunch of interesting projects we’ve completed on there that generally shows what we do. Our main “bread & butter” was collision repair with these builds or restorations on the side. However, over the several years or more I’m pushing harder to get away from collision repair and would love to do only custom work. Though in a small community with multi generational customers it’s difficult to leave them with no place for the collision repairs they’ve been used to.

The before and after really show just how far you have come. Great change for the better.
