Barry, it's on topic since it's part of an overall build with major metalshaping content. If you were just talking about the chassis it would not. Looking forward to seeing more. I assume this is a customer car?

Hey Kerry - no this is one of mine. Irony is I bought this to have something on the road while I was busy with my other projects....
I'll try to get some time over the holidays to get a full build thread together.

Thanks Brad, the table is 3/4 cut out to a pattern supplied when I did a course at Contour Autocraft some time ago. A series of varying radii that comes in very handy for bending edges over etc. I built a solid frame with space for tool storage that I never use!

Barry, that is going to be a really nice project. Your work so far is great, like I would expect it to be. Really nice to see you back posting again. Can't wait to see more of this project.

So I got a little more time on this:

Tipped the edge of the cowl top panel

Had this old dash hanging on the wall - it was a better fit than a '34 Buick I have too (which looks prettier). Had to reshape the top edges but didn't take pics
Out of interest can anyone ID it?

Making the piece that wraps around the cowl top to meet the dash panel was pretty easy - just welded some tabs on, clamped it all in place and brought it around. Little bit of stretch at the ends.

Tacked it in situ with the MIG before welding up on the bench (TIG) Tried to take a little more care as there is no way to get at the back of the weld. Worked out ok.

Next I got onto making the small panels fit. Just measuring and tweaking. I plan to mount windscreen posts on top of these and will probably end up doing something similar to my Volksrodster - DuVall style v-d windshield.

Then it was on to the cowl sides. An odd reverse that had me headscratching again as the bottom edge is straight and the others all go in different directions.

A little more wheeling

When I was just about ready to bin the panel, I gave it another round and it seemed to find it's space. Tipped the edges one by one and tweaked them in the shrinker / stretchers.

Done!

I am a little concerned that the seam at the front kicks up a bit much - I don't know how this will affect the overall lines if I choose to have the hood top at the same point - lines won't flow.
Not sure if bringing the edges of the hood further down will look odd.
So I may need to move the line......
Will get back onto the nose cone and maybe even structure of the doors next so that I can get a better idea.

Looks great Barry!! Glad to here this is your project to keep. Makes it extra special. The dash reminded me of a 33 chevrolet but I googled it and it's not. I'd post it on HAMB.
