I would like to see those 2000GPB fenders too. One seldom gets more than you pay for.

David, good business to up charge for the use of your bucks. For others, that is a good example of a bit of an additional charge to recoup any business investment.

I don't need to see the SS100 wings from the company he said he could get them from. I have seen wings made there before... 'nuf said. I told him to get them to fit them too because I would not do it. He eventually decided to get me to make the wings.
But only after busting my backside for weeks.

Thanks for replying guys.

That's just on this forum

I feel very very privileged to be in the position to be able to see your work and that of other professionals and amateurs and getting a broad and varied view of how people shape metal.

Thanks to all who post

Peter

Thanks for your reply Peter. Probably works out more than five minutes a post. I must be mad.

Just started on another SS100 fuel tank and I am making louver tooling so that I can make bonnets. I have one to make for the car in this thread. I will post some photos soon. My youngest daughter is making a video of my work which will show a little of the louver tooling, I will post a link when it's done.

New SS100 Bonnet

I have been making louver tooling for the SS100 bonnet (hood) I made a number of these bonnets years ago but that was when I was working for someone else. I have been in the process of making the louver tooling for myself so that I can make the bonnets for the SS100 seeing as I already make the petrol tank, wings, Radiator shell and all the other parts of the body.

The bonnet has four rows of 45 louvers so 180 louvers in the top alone. I have made the bonnet top and sides for the car I show in this thread and they are ready for the louvers.

I made this double louver tool so that I can punch two louvers at a time. I make all my louver tooling myself. There are several days work in this tool. The resulting louvers are identical to the originals.

I have not finished the louver tools for the side of the bonnet as yet and I am sure I will have a bit of fine tuning to get these to work perfectly.

Do you have to make them out of high carbon steel David?

I made them from harden'able tool steel so they will be hardened once I have finished making them. Some louver tooling I harden some I just make from mild steel I may case harden it if it is something I am going to be using several times.
