Spent a lot of time mocking up the gas pedal and cable. I felt like I needed to follow the instructions that came with the cable. Power of suggestion I guess. There is a cylinder head straight in front of the top of the gas pedal stopping it from going straight thru the firewall. I was trying to route the cable under the dash from the pedal arm using pulleys and then into the sheath which would screw to the firewall. I remembered my nifty Ford grommets I had ordered and thought I could run the cable, sheath and all thru the firewall. Seems to work fine and I won't need to leave an extra couple inches that the instructions call for.

Next up was dealing with the brake pedal arm. I used the foot pad end from an Express van.
Full chamfer for the weld.

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.

Thanks Marcus. Lots of little projects involved at the firewall area.

False floor panels next to bring the gas pedal far enough ahead. The brake travel is quite far and the steering gear consumes approximately 1-3/4" behind the brake arm.

A couple of ears for the gas pedal:

New gas pedal arm and ears welded to false floor:

Drain tubes for cubby and AC system:

Primer required before false floor panels could go in so I decided it was time to cut off the pinch welds that I didn't like which I had made previously on the rockers.

A section at a time so I wouldn't screw it up:

Now, how long did you think that would go? Not bloody long....D'OH! As the zip cut blade heated the metal, the further away the back part went, cutting at a slight angle....well, you see.......

A bit wavy, but OK. I will skin a bit of fill in case someone takes a peek under there.
