I spent a while trying to position the d150 club cab windows where they looked right, but I couldn't find a suitable spot due to the different cab angles etc.

Actually I was perfectly fine to start welding them in, until a person commented that the angles didn't match up right. This threw a wrench in the works and had me questioning everything!

I think it will be the right choice, just a lot more work. All the IH glass is flat, yet the d150 windows were curved. So it would look funny in the long run I think.

I decided to make window frames. This was the last bit of fab work I did on the truck cab in march/april. I needed to take a break for a bit to catch up on work and my sanity.

I tried making the frame profiles in one piece but it was out of my skill set.

In between then and now I started making a bead roller. I was initially just going to power my existing one, but I didn't want to spend time and money mounting an electric motor on something that I generally hated the appearance of.

I re-used the shafts, gears and bearing blocks from my old bead roller. I think I will make new shafts from 4140 size as the existing shafts are neither straight, or of decent quality.

The drum switch is one I had leftover from my lathe. Initially I was going to use a foot switch for forward and reverse, but the foot switch I got was only rated for 7amp at 125vac, which would end-up with welded contacts with 90vdc 1.5amp I believe. I couldn't scrounge the appropriate relays to do safe and reliable forward/reverse with the foot switches.

Rotation direction is selected with the drum switch, and then the foot switch is using NC contacts to pin 7 and 11 inhibit rotation provision of the Bodine FPM speed control, which is 24vdc and .5amp switch requirements.

I found a suitable drive gear in the box of lathe parts I believe its 14 DP. Bored it out and made a press in reducer to fit the 3/4" keyed gear motor shaft.

The stand is from a 20 ton screw jack I pulled out of the scrap yard a while ago. Drilled and tapped to mount to 1/2" base plate

Overall it works well. I have a month of so work to catch up on before I can get back to working on the cab. So until then!

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.
