Howdy from VA
Hey there, I am Niche and I live in the Central Virginia area. I used to work as a steel fabricator some 15 years ago. I started my learning at vo-tech in a welding and fabrication program while I was in high school. I did commercial sheet metal work initially, then worked at a couple of job shops and finally I ended up building commercial/residential stairs, rails, gates, stuff like that. About 10 yrs exposure total including my school time. I went back to school and changed careers and been doing what I do now for the last 15 years.
Since leaving metal work, I have missed the satisfaction that creating used to bring me. It was a hope of mine to one day start doing my own work, but decided on school instead. I am at the point in my life now where I can afford to do a little hobby shop build-up and for the last 8 months or so, (part-time), thats what I have been doing.
At this point, I feel like I am off to a good start with the shop buid up and I am ready to start building stuff instead of shop equipment. I have a bunch of fabrication stuff, but in regards to sheet metal, I have a 48" box and pan brake, 50" set of rolls, bead roller and a handful of cutting tools. I would like to expand that in a bit once I get done building a garage (currently working out of our garage that we park in).
My idea is to create cool stuff. I have a lot of ideas that will hopefully come in time. This forum looks to be a good resource, thanks for having me.
