I am a retired (?) designer from the Driftless. My interest in how finding out how those old guys made those beautiful cars using almost nothing for tools and doing it myself.

Plenty of information here on working with hand and home-made tools. I don't know your "training" budget, but there are several professionals who post here that have videos that I would recommend. David Gardiner and Peter Tomassini have excellent videos that emphasize hand tools. Kent White has a wider range of videos, however, some do emphasize hand tools.
