Hi All,
My name is Tim Raymond I live in Hythe, Kent, England and I have owned various Sunbeam Alpine sports cars since the early 1980s. Both of my children have grown up with a love of Alpines and own their own cars which they have fully restored. Recently my wife and I managed to track down and recover the very first Alpine that we ever had. This was the 25th Series V Sunbeam Alpine ever made. For a long time this was our only car and we drove her every day and took her all over Europe. We sold her in 1992 (when our youngest was born and we simply couldn't get both children in the back of the Alpine). At this time she was in genuine 'as new' showroom condition. When we got her back in August 2016 she looked ready for the scrap yard! Now we are in the process of doing a total body retsoration and need to make various panels to bring this beautiful car back to her former glory, hence joining this site seemed like a good idea. Best Wishes, Tim

Welcome to AllMetalShaping Tim.
The first car I ever bought was a Sunbeam Alpine. I was in the Army in 1969 and a guy shipping out sold me his Sunbeam with a bad engine for $50. I found a used engine for $50 and two supposedly 'great' mechanic friends and I changed the motor out in the parking lot of the barracks using our bare hands. (stronger in those days). Got it running but it ran like crap. Finally decided to drive it and see if it smoothed out. Turned out to be missing first gear. I was so mad I sold it to a guy who had just arrived. He walked over and switched the spark plug wires on #2 & 3, and drove off in 2nd gear. I've never let my buddies forget how great they were as mechanics. When I shipped out 2 months later, the car was still running great with no first gear. Dang I liked that car.

Welcome to the forum, Tim.
I've got our TR3B (in family since 64) in line here to restore, but still check every time I drive past to see if the nice looking red Alpine with hardtop is in the mechanic's back lot across the cow pasture about 1/2 mile from where I sit. I spoke to him about if it might be for sale and he was going to inquire with the owner. No word back. Tiger conversions are apparently the owner's hobby.
