Hi all, I am just starting out in sheetmetal forming, I have built a power hammer and now trying to make a set of shrinking dies. So far I have been able to stretch with my shrinking dies, so I must be doing something wrong.
I found a set of plans on line for the dies but there a little hard to read. The dies look simple but I'm finding out they are more complicated than I thought. And one with some advice. Thanks Bart Onoday

Welcome Bart
Use the search tab try shrink dies, thumbnail dies, etc. you should find a lot of good info. Any pictures of your hammer? One of the areas of concern with the dies is the contact area on the front (closest to operator) side right in front of the thumb. It should be a smile shape that matches up on both dies. That is the only part that should make tight contact. All other areas should have a small clearance. Lots of smooth relief around the edges, so they don't scare up th panel. Steve
