Default Hi from Cornwall (UK)

Hi All,

Motorcycle special underway - Phase 1 was a modified frame to accept Single Sided swingarm.

Phase 2 is a new seat unit - Initially made a timber plug for a GRP mould....but then thought it out to be Aluminium.

A complete novice, but over the last 9 months I've bought a few handtools, a shrinker/stretcher and TIG .... have the seat pan all made (Simple rolled sheet), but now need to formsome compound curves, so English Wheel next ..

Here to get some education !

regards
Will

what a great welcome - cheers !

A few pics of the project to date ( 12 months in, although not much progress during the last 3, due to the need to shape sheet for the rear end and no previous experience of ... !)

Last shot shows seat pan and rear light plate, both with flanges cleco'd on, with a temporary intermediate support which has provided the correct separation distance and elevational relationship of the two pieces. Upper/lower skins will be riveted.

I bought a shrinker/strecher with an 8" throat (hand operated) and fabricated a foot operated pedestal for it - so chuffed with the ability to pull metal into shape. First use were the seat flanges, which fit really snug for first attempt and has nurtured the desire to work with metal even further.

Now I need to skin, top and bottom.... which is why I'm here ...thinking of buying a small English Wheel ...
