Hello from scotland

Recently I retired, after too many years as a turner, decided that it was time to start on some of the projects that I had been planning on and not getting round to, for most of my working life, usual excuses work 10 hours a day, wife, 4 kids, 2 cats and a dog, meant not enogh hours to fit everything in.
Some of those projects (1936 bsa 500 side valve, a 1960's ex british race bike and a couple of other vintage bikes) are going to need someone to shape/ repair sheet metal parts, I've done a little in the past but the results were definately on the rough side, so I've decided that rather than simply farm out the jobs I would learn, or rather should isay attempt to learn a new skill I always feel more "connected" to a project the I have done myself, and to be honest what else have I got to do, other than learning how to dive(scuba), finishing a house in a foreign country, landscaping about two acres of garden, and redecorating my house.
Besides if I sit down for more time than it takes to eat dinner I get bored

your project sounds interesting. i can say we all love pictures and it helps people understand what you may be asking advice wise

i'm going to hazard a guess as a fitter and turner (lathe work)

Yep, turner is what we call lathe guys this side of the water.

Thanks for the welcome, a turner for those who asked is a guy who operates a lathe.not sure what the rest of the world calls us, Served my apprenticeship as a fitter and turner, worked making dies and moulds for a company that made oil seals,after that a while working in the motorycle trade then into shipbuiding mining,then the oil industry and as those died ,back into light precision work and finally into cnc setting/programming Just realized of all the firms I worked for only the last one still exists....
