Default Greetings from Cornwall, UK.

Hi

i'm a 75 year old man living in Cornwall, England. When I was a young man I was well known in the classic car restoration business, restoring mainly Aston Martin, Ferrari, Rolls Royce etc.

It was the 70s and traditional panel beating was out of fashion. I had a wheeling machine, swager, folder etc but not really the knowledge on how to use them, I was good but not good enough. There was no internet to help then. Still I made door skins lower wings etc.

In 1976 I was one of the first people in the business to use a MIG on a car. I bought a 200A BOC mig that weighed a ton and took two people to move. I made by own AC/DC TIG and taught myself TIG welding.

I was a good workman but a bad business man. I got tired of having a low income and stress and changed careers. I taught myself computer programming and had a successful career in computer programming from 1995-2018. I came to live in Cornwall and bought a derelect miners cottage.

I have built a nice warm and dry workshop for my bikes and have a milling machine, lathe and TIG. I am getting into sheet metal work again have built an English Wheel, power bead roller and shrinker. When I say built, I have re-manufactured chinese equipment to what it should have been when it left the factory.

I am going to make bodywork for my custom Kawasaki ZX9R street bike. That's the plan anyway!

Pete

Welcome Pete, great energy, you've come to the right place.
Look how I turned a useless bead roller into a machine that I use for fine detailing on fenders. I didn't understand the ideas of the designer of the machine. But he on probably didn't understand how the machine should work either.
