Hello all,
I stumbled onto this site last night and am very impressed with the support and friendship offered. I'm closing in on retirement and am just now restoring a 1950 Dodge PU. Looking forward to learning some additional tips and tricks of the sheet metal trade. I have a full machinists shop at home, but do not have any major sheet metal tools. I've been following basic hand work as taught by David Gardiner over in the United Kingdom and really enjoy it. I have his DVD and believe the chap to be a real genius! His techniques seem to be working terrific for me. I'll post some Pics down the road as I get more involved in the website. Thanks! RLFort Last edited by RLFort; 07-19-2011 at 03:10 PM. |

Robert, welcome and thanks for the introduction. Having a machine shop and the skills to make tools will come in handy as you learn metal shaping. Hope you find the site helpful. Thanks for joining us.

Hi Bob, Welcome to the site. I am pleased you feel the DVD has helped you in learning some metalshaping. Like Joe said having the machines and ability to use them will allow you to make simple tools and even complex machines. I am no machinist but my little lathe has been a godsend. (not that I really know how to use it)
David

Welcome, Robert!
As you might guess from the tardiness of my response, I haven't been on the site a lot lately, but there are a number of Seattle-area metalshapers. |
