I so agree, did some technical teaching and it was one of the statements I always made in my first class.
The other one i liked was "knowledge not shared, was as bad as having no knowledge at all". always used that in the shop when guys talked about that little secret (and wouldn't share) they had for making a part correctly. Heck if you don't share it, you might as well not have it. Myself I always found that by helping the younger and newer guys, they tended to bring you their problems and instead of learning only from the one you ran into you learned at an exponential rate from everyone else s problem also.
There I go being long winded again, back to reading.
