Default Hello from mid-Michigan

Hi, my name is Al, and I am a retired teacher looking to develop/improve my metalworking skills as I restore vehicles with my two sons. I worked as an automotive technician (heavy repair, engines, transmissions, drive-line, as well as light duty and electrical) for 20+ years before retiring from an on-the-job accident. I rehabilitated myself and went back to school to become a teacher and did so as an elementary school teacher for 12 years. Unfortunately, my health deteriorated to the point that I once again needed to retire. Now, I want to work on cars with my sons when time and health permits. I enjoy working on scale models of vehicles, especially drag racing models, and hope my skills in those will carry over into the 1:1 cars.
