Default Hello from "Silicon Valley" (San Jose, CA)

My name is John, and it is a pleasure to meet you virtually.

I've always worked with my hands; spent way too much on tools for the last 20 years, built engines, and was once lucky enough to work on a 3,000 HP race car, blown and injected on Methanol (NHRA TAFC). I currently make my living as a software propeller head.

I am (finally) passionately pursuing my love affair with all things metal. I signed a lease on a new shop/studio, and I've been learning, reading, watching and most importantly, practicing hands-on. Mostly welding to date (TIG, MIG), some beginning shaping (English wheel, brakes, punches), and some entry-level machining (mill, lathe). Thanks to TechShop! I also want to eventually tackle blacksmithing and casting.

No matter how far I go with things, I am always humble. Life has kicked my ass too many times for me to be cocky, and I respect people for their hearts, their gifts, and their passions and talents. I have a long way to go, and I have nothing but respect for the road ahead. But I'm all in and not looking back.

Warmest regards,

-John
