Hello, New member here. I am interested in learning and trying to do some metal forming. As a hobby, I work on classic motorcycles and would like to try forming some of the sheet metal parts. Many years ago, I repaired an old motorcycle sidecar body by cutting out rusted sections and then welding in new steel. I taught myself how to use a welding torch, how to hammer weld, and how to form curved shapes in small steel panels. I also cut apart and straightened a dented motorcycle gas tank.
At some point I would like to try making a fuel tank out of aluminum. I would like to purchase or fabricate an economical English wheel. Some of the techniques and tools I would like to learn are: beater bag, hammer form construction, metal shrinking, aluminum welding, English wheel used. I am located in Elgin, IL.
