Default New guy from South Dakota hoping to learn all I can.

Hey y'all. First name Ben last name Amirault. I currently live in Rapid City South Dakota as an active duty Air Force member. My trade is as a carpenter but my heart truly lies in metal and fast cars. Grew up in Casper Wyoming I began my education in hot rod at an early age working with my dad in the garage. He instilled in me a love for everything automotive. At 15 I got my first job in a heavy machinery resale joint. Great experience that taught me a lot about the importance of hard work. Fast forward a couple years and I'm working at a local hot rod and custom shop. This was the first time I really experienced working with metal. I had tinkered with MIG welding a couple times but never seriously. Needless to say I got hooked. Unfortunately things happened and then not so unfortunately I enlisted and got into a job that I love and that gives me the opportunity to work with wood and metal. I'm starting a drag truck project in my little one car garage. '93 1/2 ton dodge 2 wheel drive. Drop in a big block, 4 link, tubs, the works. That's what led me to this forum. I have some experience but I know I have so much more to learn. Hoping to find that knowledge here. Thanks everyone.
