I'm a retired manufacturing engineer, living west of Atlanta, Georgia (USA). I got into metalshaping because we're building an airplane -- a Just Aircraft Highlander. While we could build it just the way it was designed, there are things we want to change. For instance, we'd like to form and weld aluminum fuel tanks for the wings, instead of using the standard fiberglass ones that are available.
I'm planning to buy a bead roller, and will likely upgrade our shear/brake/roll machine from 30" to a 40" model. I've considered flow forming the flanges on the end caps and baffles for our tanks, but think perhaps we can start by simply rolling them. I need to learn how to get flat aluminum into curvy shapes, and that brings me here.
