Greeting Metal Men, Thanks for adding me, I am a 53 year old originally from Brisbane. My father was a Engineer who passed away when I was 3 years old and I grew up with a marvelous array of tools and equipment under the house most of which I never knew what it was or how it was used. My slightly older brother and I found Motorcycle riding irresistible and I was lucky enough to find a career in the Industry working for and running racing teams in Australia for YAMAHA Kawasaki and KTM Factory. Over the years I have often discovered what the "strange tools and objects" of my child hood home were. A large selection of smooth metal files and blow torches that we never could get to work and strange cast iron cup looking things turned out to be equipment for white metal bearing making and mounds for casing alloy pistons.
Pretty much everything motorsport related fascinates me and the passing on of knowledge such as Peter Tommasini is fostering here with this site is a task of paramount importance. For me growing up not knowing what the tools under my child hood home were used for and the fact that almost all of them where lost or discarded by the time I reached an age of understanding is a terrible and distressing loss, the last thing I ever want to see is a other English Wheel being used to hold up a hanging plant or a Cast iron Piston mound used as an ashtray.......
