1976 Ford F100

I have never done any body work. I have had 1976 Ford F100 long bed for 3 years. Mechanically, It runs well and is on the road regularly. It needs a lot of body work which I want to do myself. It needs a new floor, cab mounts a driver side door sill, and the bed is a mess. I am looking for a starting place.

Welcome Andrew. I have a 76 F-100 too. The first thing you have to do is evaluate whether or not it is financially feasible to restore your truck. You might have a good donor there, or it might be retorable. Most of the body panels are available through a variety of sources. Most 73-79 stuff will work for your truck. Floor and cab corners can be installed. Cab mounts are available to. If you are going to do a restore, you are going to want to pull the body and bed anyway to inspect the frame, brakelines, gas tank, etc. Most important thing is the condition of the frame. A little surface rust is one thing, but severe rust and cracks are something else altogether. Good luck with your project. PM me if you need any help on resources for parts.

This is great advice- just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. When it comes to regular vehicles that are still available, Replacing it may be better than fixing it.
