Hello all. My name is Todd and I live in sunny Illinois and I'm an engineer at Caterpillar. I do a little hobby machining in my garage and am building a chopper from an old Yamaha XS650. I'm interested in learning some sheetmetal shaping skills and maybe applying them to my motorcycle interest.

Welcome from the East Peoria area. I generally work on antique auto restorations and parts manufacturing, either in the machine shop, or with the sheet metal equipment.

Welcome aboard
I'm assuming if you have a XS650, you are building a cafe.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. To clarify my location; I live near the small town of Roanoke about 20 miles east of Peoria so I'm right in the middle of the state. The Heart of Illinois as they say around here. My work location is East Peoria. Someone asked about my XS650. I'm making it into a stretched out chopper not a Cafe although I like that look too. It has the lines of a soft tail but I designed a monoshock type of swing arm so that the shock will be hidden. The front is raked out to 43 degrees and is a spring suspension. It won't be a performance/handling machine I just like the long, low look of it.
