Default New From Iowa

Hello, my name is Brett Moore and I am a 20 year old college student living in Iowa. My dad and I are currently working on a 1946 chevy pick up for myself, and he has a 1950 plymouth that we plan on customizing later this year. I have become fascinated with metal shaping since taking on the truck project, and hope to learn all that I can. I made a few simple patch panels for the truck using hammer forms but that is the extent of my metal shaping abilities. I hope to one day be able to make complex panels when/if I need them and that is what has brought me here. I recently made a shrinking stump and a wooden mallet out of a baseball bat and am planning on making a slapper from a truck spring soon. I attempted to make my first "bowl" today and I think it turned out decent for my first time ever trying to shape metal with a stump. I do have a few questions about what I may have done wrong but I might wait to post them in one of the main forums as I feel that may be the more appropriate place for them? Thanks.
