Default Greetings from Vermont

You know, that snowy place with all the salt and rusty cars.

Hi-I'm Neil Hochstedler, have been lurking here as a guest for a bit and have learned a lot. I'm a machine designer, machinist, welder, windsmith and amateur mechanic and have been generally frustrated by sheetmetal all my working life. After taking a seminar, I've gained some confidence and am sure that even though I'll continue to screw up, I'll get it eventually and make something usable.

Thanks for having me.

Neil

Thanks to everyone for the welcome (s). Pretty rare for new folks on other forums to get positive attention, but it seems commonplace here. (I like it!)

Mark- I just spent a pleasant hour looking at your albums. I was especially impressed by (what I think is a) Great Blue Heron.

And I met a guitarmaker in Chelsea last year that shares your last name. Is he related?

Neil

Hey Neil...I used to live in that general area and my bro still has a place in Bridgport....I know exactly what you mean about rusty cars..I won't even work on my bro's stuff anymore. I hated seeing my cars dissolve in a few years. Hated the rust flaking off in my eyes even more.

I moved to Texas a few years back and now I can play in the shop year round without heat. And my cars are lots older and not as rusty. Took me over 40 years to figure it out but I am real glad I moved..And you know, I haven't plowed a single minute or shoveled any snow either. Gotta love that. If I want to go skiing I can travel for that once a year thing.

Anyhow, welcome, I'm a newbie here too but these guys put up with me most of the time. The skills shared here are world class and so are the guys sharing them. It is sometimes overwhelming for me but everyone has to start somewhere.
