Warren, the dobro sound boards I'm familiar with are basically shallow bowls with some cutouts. We just had a guy join who makes restrophonic guitars. he may be able to give you some info but the overall shape is a shallow bowl.

Warren.
Take a look at the web sight of the guy from MICH who makes the steel guitars....I have one started and have taken some pic as we go along...Not a easy project....Look at Beard Guitars.He has a set of full sized plans for $ 10 just scale the print....I made a hammerform out of 1/2 in alum plate for top and bottom. Take a look on u tube at national steel guitar...there are 10 segments starting with stamping the blanks to playing the finished product..... Good Luck Barry
